How to find AI words in your writing

Paste the text and click Find AI words. Every match is highlighted in place and colour-coded by type: red for buzzwords, amber for transitions and filler, blue for chatbot openers and sign-offs, grey for hedges and intensifiers. The table under the result lists each term, how many times it appears and a plainer replacement.

Density matters more than the raw count. One “leverage” in 800 words is normal; six in 200 is not. The report gives AI words per 100 words so you can compare drafts of different lengths.

Why these words sound like AI

Language models are rewarded for text that reads as fluent and safe, and a certain register wins that contest: elevated vocabulary, formal connectors, confident intensifiers, and framing phrases that sound thoughtful without saying anything. Researchers measuring word frequencies in scientific abstracts found words like delve and intricate jumped tenfold or more after 2022. People noticed, and now the words themselves trigger suspicion.

The fix is not to avoid every word on the list forever. It is to notice when the register has drifted away from how you actually talk, and pull it back. That is what the swaps are for.
